Activities

An overview is provided of the NCCHD’s DEI initiatives, as well as the organizational framework established to plan, implement, and advance DEI efforts across the institution.

Organizational Framework

The Office for the Promotion of Diversity at the National Center for Child Health and Development brings together specialized divisions—including those of the Research Institute and the Hospital—and oversees initiatives to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) across the Center. Each division contributes to its respective expertise while working collaboratively toward shared goals within a coordinated institutional framework.
In addition, the Division of Diversity Research, established within the Research Institute, promotes biological and medical research on sex and gender. This research provides a robust theoretical and scientific foundation for DEI initiatives, ensuring that organizational efforts are informed by evidence-based insights as they are implemented across the Center.
